Okay, so imagine you're playing in a sandbox and you find a shiny rock. You bring it to mom or dad and they say "wow, that might be very special and worth a lot of money one day." Now imagine that instead of a shiny rock, you find some really old bones or pottery in the dirt. That's what archaeologists do - they find old things in the ground and try to learn about the people who used them a long time ago.
Sometimes, when people want to build something new like a house or a road, they need to dig up the ground first. But if they think they might find something important or valuable under there, they'll call in a group of archaeologists first to take a look. That's where the Rescue British Archaeological Trust comes in.
This group of archaeologists are experts at quickly finding and recording any important artifacts or remains that might be buried under the ground before they get destroyed. They work with construction crews to make sure everyone stays safe while still being able to find and learn about the history of that place. They might even find things that nobody knew were there before, which can help us understand our world and the people who lived in it a long time ago.
