Rescue archaeology means saving old things that were once very important so that we can learn from them, even if they are in danger of being destroyed. Just like we try to save people who are in trouble, we also try to save historical things that are in trouble. Sometimes, construction or other activities can harm these precious old things unintentionally. So rescue archaeologists get to work to save them before they are lost forever. They dig up the old things carefully and take them away to study and learn from. This way, we can find out more about the past and the people who came before us.
