ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Resignation

Resignation is when a grown-up decides they no longer want to work at their job and they tell their boss they want to leave. It's kind of like when you're playing a game and you decide you don't want to play anymore and you tell your friends that you're not playing anymore.

When a person resigns, they usually have a good reason like they found a better job, they want to spend more time at home, or they don't like their boss or coworkers. Sometimes when a person resigns, they have to give their boss a letter that says they are leaving their job.

Once a person resigns, they usually don't work at that job anymore. They might have to finish up some work first, or they might be able to leave right away. When they go, they might say goodbye to their coworkers and their boss, and sometimes they get a new job or take a break before starting a new job.
