Resource-oriented architecture is a way of organizing parts of the Internet like your house. Just like in your house, the Internet is made up of different parts, or "rooms". In resource-oriented architecture, each of these parts is called a "resource", and they are connected to each other in a special way. Resources can have different things in them like pictures, videos, or text, and they can also contain information about other resources. When the Internet is organised in this way, it's easier for computers to understand and for people to find what they're looking for quickly.
