ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Revue

Okay, so do you know what a revue is? It's like a show or performance that has a lot of different parts to it, like singing and dancing and funny skits. But it's not like a story where there's a beginning, middle, and end. It's more like a bunch of different things put together in one big show.

Sometimes people also call it a "variety show." That just means that there's a bunch of different things going on, instead of just one thing like a play or a movie.

So let's imagine that you're going to a revue with your family. When you get there, you might see some people singing and dancing on stage. They might be dressed in really sparkly costumes, and they might be doing some really fancy moves.

After that, there might be a funny skit where people dress up in silly costumes and act out a scene. Maybe they'll pretend to be animals or pirates, or maybe they'll make fun of grown-ups in a nice way. Whatever they do, it's meant to be funny and make people laugh.

Then there might be some more singing and dancing, with different people on stage this time. They might sing some songs that you know and can sing along to, or they might do a dance routine that's really cool to watch.

And so on! A revue usually has lots of different parts to it, so you never get bored. It's like going to a party where there's always something fun happening.
