Okay, little one, there was a time a long time ago when there were some people in Europe who were called Rhineland Bastards. Now, these people were actually kids who were born to parents who were from different races. See, in the Rhineland area of Germany, lots of different soldiers came to visit and sometimes they had babies with local women.
Now, the reason they were called bastards wasn't because they weren't loved or anything like that. It was just a word that people used at that time to describe someone who was born to parents who weren't married. So, these babies had parents who weren't married and they also looked different from most of the people in their town.
This made some people really mean to them and they weren't treated very nicely just because of the color of their skin. But luckily, there were also lots of people who loved and supported them even though they were different.
Today, we know that it doesn't matter what color our skin is or where our parents come from. What's important is that we treat everyone with kindness and respect, no matter who they are.
