ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Right- and left-hand traffic

Hey kiddo, do you know how we drive on the roads? In some countries, like the United States, we drive on the right-hand side of the road. But in other countries, like the United Kingdom, they drive on the left-hand side of the road. That's called right- and left-hand traffic.

It's kind of like playing on a playground – there's always a certain way we're supposed to go down the slide, and everyone follows that rule. Well, with driving, there are certain rules too! In some countries, they decided that it was safer for everyone to drive on one side of the road, while in other countries they decided to drive on the opposite side.

So when you're traveling to a different country, it's important to remember which side of the road they drive on so you can stay safe and follow the rules. It might feel a bit different at first, but it's all about following the rules and making sure everyone stays safe on the road!
