Risks and benefits of sun exposure

Sun is like a lamp that provides us with light and also makes us feel warm. It is very important for our body to get sun, but it can also be harmful if we get too much of it.

When we go out in the sun, we need to make sure we wear sunscreen or protective clothing like hats, sunglasses, and long-sleeved shirts or pants. This is because the sun emits a type of energy called ultraviolet (UV) rays that can damage our skin.

If we get too much sun exposure, it can lead to sunburn, premature aging of the skin, and even skin cancer. But if we get just the right amount of sun exposure, it can actually be beneficial for our body.

The sun helps our body produce vitamin D, which is important for strong bones and helps our immune system fight off infections. Sun exposure can also help people who suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a type of depression that occurs during the winter months when there is less sunlight.

So, remember to wear sunscreen or protective clothing, stay in the shade, and limit your time in the sun to get the benefits without the risks.
