Rite of passage

A rite of passage is a ceremony or event that marks an important change in your life. It can be something as simple as getting your drivers license or graduating high school, or can be more complex like getting married or when you make a big move in your career. By doing a rite of passage, people recognize that something is changing and it is an important milestone. For example, when you turn 18, you might have a special ceremony or get a special gift to commemorate that you're now an adult. In some cultures, rite of passages are actual rituals with costumes and special music that mark the transition a person is making.
