Robert W. Bussard
Robert W. Bussard was a very smart man who liked to think about space travel. He had lots of ideas on how we could travel really fast in space, like in the movies. He thought that instead of using regular rocket fuel, we could use something called fusion to make energy to move our spaceships. Fusion is like making a bonfire by putting logs together, except we use atoms instead of logs. This makes a lot of energy that could help us travel really far in space.
Robert also thought about how we could catch things in space, like tiny pieces of rock or dust. He made a special machine called an electromagnetic ram scoop that could suck up all of this space stuff and put it into our spaceship. This is like when you go to the beach and use a scoop to gather sand and shells.
Robert was really smart, and he had lots of good ideas to help us explore space. But, sadly, he passed away in 2007. However, his ideas helped inspire lots of people to keep thinking about space travel and how we can explore even further in the future!
