Rock carvings at Alta

So, a long time ago, people used to live in a place called Alta. And these people really liked to make art - kind of like the pictures you make with your crayons. But instead of paper, they made their art on big rocks, which is really impressive!

These rock carvings are kind of like messages from a long time ago. People would draw pictures of things they saw or things that were important to them - like animals, hunting, and even people.

The drawings were made by scraping off the surface of the rock with a tool called a chisel. It's kind of like when you draw on your Etch-a-Sketch by turning the knobs, but instead of knobs, they used a special tool to scratch the picture onto the rock.

Now, these rock carvings are important because they give us a glimpse into what life was like a really long time ago. And even though the people who made these drawings lived a very long time ago, we can still see and appreciate their art today.
