ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

processor

Your computer's processor, also known as the Central Processing Unit (CPU) is like the brain of the computer. It's the part of the computer that does all the thinking, computing and number crunching. The processor is like a very fast calculator that can add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers very quickly; so when you click on something on the computer, the processor knows what to do with it. It can also keep track of where things are stored on the computer and can remember what you have done in the past. In this way, it makes sure that everything on your computer works the way it should.
