ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rock's law

Rock's Law is a rule that explains how the cost of computer chips decreases while their power increases over time. Simply put, every 18 months, the amount of transistors (tiny switches) that can fit on a computer chip doubles, while the cost of producing those chips stays the same or even decreases. This is because companies are able to use more advanced technology to build the chips, making them smaller and more efficient. This law has been true for over 50 years now, and it’s the reason why we have such powerful and affordable technology today!
