Rocket candy

Okay kiddo, so have you ever had candy before? Imagine now we have a special kind of candy that is not meant to be eaten, but it makes rockets go up into space! This special candy is called rocket candy.

Rocket candy is made up of two main ingredients: sugar and potassium nitrate. These two things get mixed together and then melted into a liquid. Once it cools down, it turns into a solid block.

When we want the rocket to blast off into space, we put the rocket candy in a special tube and light it on fire. When the rocket candy heats up, the sugar and potassium nitrate react to create a gas that shoots out the back of the rocket. This gas creates thrust, which propels the rocket upward.

Think of it like blowing up a balloon and letting it go. The air you blow into the balloon is like the rocket candy, and the air rushing out of the balloon is like the gas that shoots out of the rocket. It makes the balloon fly off in the opposite direction.

That's how rocket candy works, kiddo! It's a special kind of candy that doesn't taste good, but it helps us explore space!
