Roger Frontenac was a famous French explorer who explored much of what we now call Canada in the 1600s. He was born in 1600 and he was sent on his first voyage in 1603. During his travels, he explored new land that had never been seen before. He even took natives he met during his travels with him to France. He was also the first Europeans to make it to the Great Lakes. After traveling over 8,000 miles, he eventually returned to France in 1620. He was very brave and is remembered as one of the earliest, most successful European explorers of the New World.
