Role congruity theory

You know how sometimes people think that boys and girls should act differently because they are different? Well, role congruity theory is like that, but instead of just boys and girls, it's for men and women in jobs.

Sometimes people think that women shouldn't have certain jobs because they are women. They might think that women are not as good at certain jobs or they might think that women should stay at home instead. But this is not fair!

Role congruity theory says that when people think that women shouldn't have certain jobs just because they are women, it's unfair because it doesn't give women the same opportunities as men.

Instead, we should think that men and women can do the same jobs just as well. It's important that everyone gets a fair chance to have the job they want, regardless of their gender.
