Rookie of the Year (award)

The Rookie of the Year award is given to a person who is a beginner at something but was really good at it in the year they started doing it. It’s like if you learned to ride a bike for the first time this year and you were so good at it that everyone was really impressed.

So, imagine you are playing a sport or starting a job, and you’re new to it. You haven’t been doing it for very long but you’re doing so well that people take notice. Maybe you’re scoring a lot of points or making a lot of sales or doing your work really well. That’s when you might be considered for a Rookie of the Year award.

Basically, it’s an award for people who are just starting out but are already really fantastic at what they’re doing. It’s a way to recognize and celebrate their achievements and the potential they have for the future.
