ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rotational gravity

Alright, so you know how you feel lighter when you jump on a trampoline, right? That's because the trampoline is pushing you up as you push down on it.

Now imagine if you were spinning on that trampoline really fast - so fast that you couldn't even jump anymore because you're stuck to the trampoline.

That's kind of how rotational gravity works. When something is spinning really fast, it can create a force that feels like gravity. This force is called centrifugal force.

The same thing happens with our planet Earth. It's spinning around really fast, and that creates a force that makes things stick to it. That's why we don't all fly off into space!

This force is called rotational gravity because it's caused by the rotation (spinning) of the planet. It's a different kind of gravity than the kind that pulls things towards the center of the planet (which is called "normal" gravity).

So basically, just like how being on a spinning trampoline can create a force that feels like gravity, being on a spinning planet can create a force that feels like gravity too!
