Royal Geological Society of Cornwall

The Royal Geological Society of Cornwall is a group of people who really love rocks and everything that comes with them. They study the Earth and the rocks that make it up. They do this by observing the Earth and collecting samples of different rocks and minerals.

The society was started a long, long time ago, in 1814, by a man named Davies Gilbert. He loved rocks and thought it was important to share that love with other people. So, he started a group where people could come together to learn and study about geology.

The group is called the "Royal" Geological Society because they were given a special title by the King of England for all the hard work they did. Being "royal" means they are very important and respected.

The Cornish part of their name comes from the fact that they do most of their work in Cornwall, which is a place in England that is known for having lots of interesting rocks. The society has helped a lot of people understand more about these rocks and their importance to our planet.

Overall, the Royal Geological Society of Cornwall is a group of people who loves rocks and wants to share that love with others. They work hard to study the Earth and teach others about it, and they are very respected for all their important work.
