Royal charters relating to Cornwall

A royal charter is like a special paper that a really important person, like a king or queen, writes to give special powers to a place or group of people. In Cornwall, many years ago, the kings and queens of England wrote special papers, or royal charters, to give special powers to the people there. These charters gave them the right to do things like hold markets, collect taxes, and have their own laws. The people of Cornwall use these royal charters today to show that they have a really important history and to help protect their rights and traditions.
