ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rule of least power

The rule of least power is a way of making sure that when you use computer technology, you use the least powerful thing you can. It's like when you are trying to open a jar. You wouldn't just go ahead and use a hammer because you could use a spoon or a can opener instead! The same goes for technology — computers can do a lot, but you don't always need them to do the job! To follow the rule of least power, you should think about the technology you're using and ask yourself if there is something less powerful that will do the same job just as well. That way, you don't waste energy or resources on tools that you don't actually need.
