Runyon v. McCrary

Okay kiddo, so there was a case called Runyon v. McCrary, and it was about whether private schools could choose not to accept students based on their race.

You know how you go to school with all kinds of kids, no matter what they look like or where they come from? That's because there are laws that say you can't be turned away from a school just because of your race.

But back in the old days, some private schools didn't like having kids from different races in their classrooms. So a bunch of families sued a private school that wouldn't let their kids in because they were Black.

The case went to the Supreme Court, which is like the boss of all the courts. They decided that even though the school was private, it still couldn't discriminate based on race. That meant schools couldn't pick and choose which kids they wanted based on what they looked like.

So now, all schools - public and private - have to accept students no matter what they look like or where they come from. That's fair, right?
