ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rut (roads)

Imagine if you were walking on a path every single day to go to school or play outside. After walking on that path so many times, your feet would make a little "dip" in the ground. That's kind of like what happens when cars and trucks drive on the same road over and over again. The wheels push down on the ground and make little grooves, or ruts, in the road. These ruts can sometimes make it harder for cars to drive straight and can even be dangerous. That's why people sometimes have to fix or repave the road to make it smoother and safer for everyone to drive on.
