ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

SCSI initiator and target

Imagine you have a toy castle with lots of different rooms and you want to move some toys between the rooms. You have two toys, one toy is called "initiator" and the other is "target." The "initiator" toy is like the boss who tells the other toy where to go and what to do. The "target" toy is like the worker who follows the boss's instructions.

Now imagine that the castle is really a computer and the toys are computer devices, like a hard drive or a printer. The "initiator" device is like the computer part that sends commands to other devices, telling them what to do. The "target" device is like the computer part that receives those commands and carries out the instructions.

So, the "initiator" device is like the boss and the "target" device is like the worker. The boss sends commands to the worker and the worker carries out the instructions. This is how computers communicate with each other through SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) technology.
