Sacraments of initiation

The sacraments of initiation are like really important special events that happen when someone is becoming a part of the Catholic church. There are three of them: baptism, confirmation, and Eucharist.

Baptism is like a welcome party. When someone gets baptized, they are washed clean of all their bad stuff from before and become a new member of the church. They get a special oil on their head and water poured over them by the priest, which makes them an official part of the Catholic community.

Confirmation is like a party that happens after you've been in the church for a little while and learned more about what it means to be Catholic. When you get confirmed, you are saying that you believe in God and want to keep following Him through the Catholic faith. The bishop comes to give you a special oil on the head to help you feel closer to God.

Eucharist is like a super fancy dinner party where everyone gets to eat a special bread and drink wine. This bread and wine are special because they represent Jesus' body and blood. By eating this bread and drinking this wine, you are saying that you want to follow Jesus and be a part of the Catholic church.

Together, these three events make sure that someone is officially a part of the Catholic community and has made a commitment to follow Jesus. They can participate in all the other things the church has to offer, like going to Mass and receiving forgiveness for their sins.
