ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sakuteiki

Sakuteiki is a really old book from Japan that talks about how to make and take care of really pretty gardens! It was written a long, long time ago - even before your grandparents were born!

In this book, it tells people what kinds of plants and trees to put in their gardens so they look really pretty and how to arrange them so they look the best. It also talks about what kinds of rocks and stones to put in the garden and where to put them so they look really cool.

But sakuteiki is not just about making your garden look pretty, it's also about feeling good when you're in it. The book says that when people make a garden, they should think about how it makes them feel - happy, peaceful or energized, for example.

So, sakuteiki is like a guidebook for making really awesome gardens that look great and make people feel really good when they're in them!
