ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sanitation worker

Ok kiddo, have you ever seen those big trucks that go around your neighborhood picking up the smelly trash bags? Those are called sanitation trucks and the workers who ride on them are called sanitation workers.

Their job is to collect and dispose of all the garbage that people put in those bags. They work early in the morning, when most people are still sleeping, and wear special uniforms and gloves to keep themselves clean.

After they collect the garbage, they take it to a special place called a landfill, where it gets buried and turned into soil over time. This helps keep the environment clean and healthy.

Sanitation workers also help keep the city streets clean by sweeping up litter or cleaning up after big events like a parade or festival.

Their job is really important because if we didn't have sanitation workers, our neighborhoods would be really dirty and smelly, and that wouldn't be very good for anyone. So let's make sure we say thank you to these hardworking folks the next time we see them!
