Scareware

Scareware is an type of scam that tricks people into buying something that they don't need. It usually makes people scared by warning them about fake viruses or other problems with their computer. The "solution" is then to buy a product or service or download a program in order to "fix" the problem. The problem doesn't actually exist, but the people who are running the scam make money off of people who are tricked into buying the false solution.
