Scenic painting

Scenic painting is like making a big picture to put on a stage so that people can see it when they go to a play or performance. It's usually done on a big piece of cloth or something called a backdrop.

First, the artist will sketch out what they want to make on the fabric. This means they draw with pencils or chalk to plan out where the different parts of the picture will be, like the trees or buildings. Then, they will paint it with special brushes and paint that is safe to use on fabric.

Sometimes, the painting needs to look like it is something else, like a forest or a city. To do this, the artist will use special techniques to make the paint look like it has texture and depth. They might use sponges or rags to dab the paint, or paint darker colors on top of lighter ones to create shadows.

Once the painting is finished, it gets hung up in the theater for the actors and audience to see. It's like having a big, beautiful decoration that sets the scene for the play or performance.
