ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Scientology and Me

Scientology is a religion that was created by a man named L. Ron Hubbard. He thought about how people think, feel, and act and wrote it down in books.

Scientology believes that humans are essentially spiritual beings called "thetans," which have lived past lives and will continue to live in the future. These thetans can become trapped by negative experiences from their past lives, which can affect their current life.

Scientologists use a process called "auditing" to address these past negative experiences and free the person from their effects. During auditing, the person talks about their problems and experiences while holding onto metal rods that measure their emotional reactions.

Scientology also encourages people to study and learn more about the religion so they can better understand themselves and the world around them.

Not everyone agrees with Scientology's beliefs and practices, and some people have had negative experiences with the religion. It's important for each person to make their own decision about whether or not Scientology is right for them.
