ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Scorpion and the frog

Once upon a time, there was a scorpion and a frog who lived near a big river. They were not friends, but they knew each other. One day, the scorpion came up to the frog and said, "Froggy, can you please give me a ride across the river? I promise I won't hurt you."

The frog was a little scared because scorpions have a sharp stinger on their tail, and it can really hurt if they sting you. But the frog also knew that scorpions can't swim, so they thought the scorpion might be telling the truth.

The frog thought for a moment and said, "Alright, Mr. Scorpion, I'll give you a ride, but only if you promise not to sting me."

The scorpion smiled and said, "Of course, Froggy! Why would I sting you? If I did, we would both drown in the river!"

So the frog agreed and the scorpion hopped on the frog's back, and they started to swim across the river. Everything was going fine until they were halfway across.

Suddenly, the scorpion raised its tail and stung the frog on its back! The frog was in so much pain and started to feel weak. They couldn't believe that the scorpion had broken their promise.

Feeling guilty, the dying frog turned to the scorpion and asked, "Why did you sting me? You said you wouldn't!"

The scorpion replied, "I'm sorry, Froggy, but it's just in my nature. I couldn't help myself. It's what scorpions do."

And sadly, with the frog too weak to swim, they both drowned in the river.

The moral of the story, little one, is that sometimes people or creatures do things that they can't control, even if it hurts them too. Just like how the scorpion couldn't help but sting the frog, some people may do bad things because it is just a part of who they are.

So, it's important to be cautious and not trust someone completely if you know they might have a habit of doing something that could hurt you, even if they promise not to.
