ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Seagoing cowboys

Seagoing cowboys were men who took care of cows and other farm animals while they traveled by ship over the ocean to another country.

Back in the old days, some countries in Europe had been destroyed by war and didn't have enough food or livestock. So, people in the United States decided to help out by donating cows, horses, and pigs that would be transported across the ocean to help those in need.

The seagoing cowboys were a group of farmers who had experience taking care of these animals. They would help load the animals onto a ship, take care of them during the journey, and then unload them safely in the destination country.

Sometimes, the journey would take weeks, and the cowboys would have to make sure the animals had enough food and water, and were comfortable during the trip. Once they arrived, they would help the people in the destination country learn how to take care of the animals and help them start farming again.

Overall, seagoing cowboys were brave and generous people who helped others in need while using their farming skills to do so.
