Seashell

A seashell is like a little house that some animals who live in the ocean or on the beach wear. It's a hard, protective outer layer on their body that keeps them safe. Some animals that use seashells include snails, clams, and oysters.

When these animals are born, they don't have a seashell yet. They have to make it themselves! To do this, their body has a special part that makes a hard, chalky substance that they can use to build their shell.

The shell grows bigger and bigger as the animal grows. It's kind of like when you get new shoes that fit you perfectly, but after a few months they feel a bit tight. So, the animal needs to add more chalky substance to make the shell bigger.

Seashells come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors. Some are smooth, some are bumpy, and some are shaped like long spirals. Many people like to collect and keep seashells as souvenirs from the beach because they are pretty and remind them of fun times.
