ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Season

Okay kiddo, you know how sometimes it's warm outside and sometimes it's cold? Well, that's because of something called "seasons." Seasons are like different parts of the year that have different weather and temperatures.

There are four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. In spring, the weather starts getting warmer and the flowers and trees start growing again. In summer, it's usually very warm and sunny, and we get to go to the beach or have picnics outside. In fall, the leaves on the trees change colors and start falling off, and it starts getting cooler. In winter, it's usually very cold and sometimes it snows, so we get to play in the snow or make snowmen!

The seasons happen because of something called the "tilt" of the Earth's axis. That means the Earth is tilted a little bit to one side, so different parts of the Earth get different amounts of sunlight at different times of the year. That's why some places have summer when it's winter in other places.

So, that's what seasons are! They're different parts of the year with different weather and temperatures, and they happen because of the Earth's tilt. Hope that helps you understand, kiddo!
