Second Bill of Rights

A second bill of rights is a list of rights that many people think all people should have. It was first proposed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1944. The rights on the list include: the right to a good job that pays enough for basic needs like food and shelter; the right to get health care; the right to get a good education; the right to form unions and be protected from unfair labor practices; the right to buy a home; the right to get Social Security; and the right to be safe from criminals. Although these rights are not guaranteed in the United States Constitution, many people think that they should be rights that everyone has in order to have a fair and just society.
