Second Great Awakening

The Second Great Awakening was a religious movement that started in the late 1700s in the United States. It was a time when lots of people got very excited about religion and started going to church more often. During the period, many sections of the country held large outdoor meetings with upbeat music, lively preaching and religious messages. These gatherings were called revivals, and they helped spread religious ideas throughout the United States. The Second Great Awakening also led to the development of several new religious groups, including the Mormons and the Seventh-Day Adventists.
