Securities

Securities are investments that you can buy with your money that let you try and earn more money. When you buy a security, like a stock or a bond, you are buying part of a company, or lending money to a company (in the case of a bond). With stocks, you own a piece of the company and depending on how the company does, the value of your stock will go up or down. With bonds, you are loaning money to the company, and when the loan is due, the company will have to pay you back the money you loaned, plus interest. The more secure the company is, the more likely they will be able to pay you back the money you loaned.
