Self-governing colony

A self-governing colony is a place where people make their own decisions about how they want to live. It's like a little community where everyone agrees to do things a certain way and they create their own rules. For example, they might decide together how to grow crops or how to keep the place clean. Everything they decide is made by people living in that colony and they don't need to ask someone else for permission to make those decisions.
