Self-hypnosis

Self-hypnosis is a way to relax and focus your mind. It's like daydreaming, but you are more aware of what is going on in your mind. You focus on one thing that makes you feel relaxed, like a pleasant smell or an image in your mind. As you focus on this one thing, you slow your breathing - take slow, deep breaths - and your body relaxes. Pretty soon, you are in a trance-like state, where it feels like you can control your mind better than usual. You may find that you can focus more deeply on the one relaxing thing you have chosen, and you might have some new and interesting thoughts.
