ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Semantic field

A semantic field is like a group of words that are related to each other because they all talk about the same thing or idea. It's like a group of toys that all belong in the same toy box because they are all toys. For example, the words "dog," "cat," "hamster," "rabbit," and "guinea pig" all belong to the semantic field of "pets" because they are all animals that people often keep as companions at home. So, just like how toys in a toy box are sorted by what they are, words in a sentence or paragraph can also be sorted by what they are related to in a semantic field.
