ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Separation barrier

Alright kiddo, so have you ever played a game of hide-and-seek with your friends? Sometimes when you're hiding, you might put a big object, like a couch or a chair, between you and the person who is trying to find you, right? That's kind of like what a separation barrier is.

In some parts of the world, there are two groups of people who have been fighting with each other for a very long time. Maybe they have different beliefs or ideas about how things should be done, or maybe they just don't get along for some other reason. When people fight like this, they can get very angry and sometimes they might even hurt each other.

So, in order to try and keep people safe, some countries have decided to build big walls or fences between the two groups. This way, they can't easily get to each other and cause more fighting. It's kind of like putting a big couch between two people who are arguing so they can't reach each other.

Now, some people don't like the separation barriers because they think it keeps them from getting to places they need to go, like work or school. Other people think the barriers are good because they keep them safe from people who might want to hurt them. It's a very complicated issue, but it's important to remember that we should always try to be kind to everyone, even if we don't agree with them.
