ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Septemvir

Septemvirs were groups of seven elected officials in Ancient Rome. Septemvirs were chosen to lead boards responsible for different kinds of government or public services. For example, there were septemvirs responsible for maintaining the public roads or running public markets. The members of these boards were elected by the Roman people, and they served for one-year terms.
