ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sequential game

Imagine you and your friend are playing a game where you take turns doing things. This is called a "sequential game."

Let's say you are playing a game of tic tac toe. You and your friend take turns putting X's and O's on the board. You can't put your X on the board until your friend puts their O on it first.

In a sequential game, each player has to wait for the other player to take their turn before they can take theirs.

Another example of a sequential game is chess. You and your friend take turns moving your pieces. You can't move your knight until your friend moves their bishop first.

A game of tag is not a sequential game, because everyone is moving at the same time. But a game of red light, green light is a sequential game because one person is in charge of saying when to move and when to stop.

So, a sequential game is a game where each player has to take their turn one at a time, and they have to wait for the other player to finish their turn before they can take theirs.
