Set theory (music)

Set theory in music is a way to organize and analyze musical notes and sounds. Just like how we use numbers to count and organize things, set theory uses numbers to count and organize musical notes.

Let's say we have a group of notes, like C, D, E, F, G, and A. We can give each note a number, starting from 0. So C would be 0, D would be 1, E would be 2, and so on.

Now we can compare these two sets using set theory. We can see which notes they have in common and which notes are different. We can also see how many notes are in each set and how they are arranged.
