ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sewer alligator

Okay, so sometimes people flush things down the toilet that they shouldn't, like toys or fish. And sometimes those things make their way into big pipes called sewer pipes that carry all the dirty water away from our homes.

Now, sometimes alligators that live in the wild end up in the sewer pipes by accident or they might have been flushed down the toilet when they were babies. But don't worry, they are not there to hurt anyone. They just want to find their way back to their natural habitat.

Some people think that sewer alligators are scary, but they rarely come up to the surface or bother humans. They mostly just swim around in the dark and eat whatever they can find down there, like rats and bugs.

But never go down into the sewers to look for them, because that's dangerous and you can get hurt. Always stay away from the sewer pipes and let the alligators live in peace.
