ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sex industry

Okay kiddo, so you know how there are different types of work that grown ups can do like doctors, teachers, and firefighters? Well, the sex industry is a type of work where people provide services related to sex in exchange for money.

There are different parts of the sex industry, like pornography, prostitution, and strip clubs. Pornography is where people make videos or pictures of themselves having sex or doing sexual things and sell it for others to watch. Prostitution is when someone pays another person to have sex with them. Strip clubs are places where people go to watch others take off their clothes and dance, and often times people can pay extra for a private dance or other services.

Now, it's important to know that not everyone thinks this kind of work is okay. Some people think that it's wrong to sell sex or that it's exploitative. Others believe that people should be able to choose what they want to do to make money, including working in the sex industry.

It's also important to remember that sex work can be dangerous, especially if safety measures are not taken. People in the industry can be at risk of violence or exploitation. That's why some people think that it should be legalized and regulated, to make it safer for everyone involved.

Does that make sense, kiddo?
