Sex offender registries in the United States

Sex offender registries are lists of people who were convicted of sexual crimes. In the United States, every state has a registry so that everyone knows who in their community has been found guilty of sexually harming someone. On the registry, you can find the name of the person, their picture, and information about the crime they have committed. The registry is used to help keep people safe by notifying them when a convicted sex offender lives near them.
