Shelly limestone

Shelly limestone is a type of rock that is made from the hardened remains of little sea creatures called shells. Did you ever go to the beach and collect shells? Well, imagine those shells getting squished together and stuck in mud over many, many years. Eventually, that mud would harden and turn into shelly limestone. So, shelly limestone is like a big pile of squished-together shells that has turned into rock!
