Sheppard–Towner Act

Okay kiddo, so there was a time long ago when not all babies had a safe and healthy place to be born. In fact, some babies and their mommies didn't have doctors or nurses to help them during birth. This made it hard for the babies to stay healthy and grow up strong.

So, the Sheppard-Towner Act was a law that was passed in 1921 that wanted to help out mommies and babies. It said that the government would give money to help states and communities make things better for mommies and babies when they were born.

The law helped to make sure that mommies had access to doctors, nurses, and hospitals when they needed it. They also learned how to take care of their babies and keep them healthy. The law helped to lower the number of babies who got sick or died during birth.

Overall, the Sheppard-Towner Act was a good thing because it helped take care of mommies and babies during a time when they really needed it.
