Ship burial

Okay kiddo, imagine you are a big king or queen back in the olden days. When you pass away, you want everyone to remember you and honor you. One way to do that is to have a really special burial.

Now, instead of being buried in the ground like most people, you want to be put on a big boat that will sail off into the afterlife. This is called a ship burial.

Your family and friends will put lots of treasure and valuable things on the boat with you, like gold coins, jewelry, and swords. They might even sacrifice some animals to go with you on the journey.

Then, when everything is ready, the boat will be set on fire and sent out to sea. This is because they think the fire will help guide you to where you need to go in the afterlife.

People will remember you and tell stories about you for a very long time because of your special ship burial.
